This July, seniors Eva Agoulnik and Stephanie Luu represented the McCombs School of Business at the 2011 World Youth Leaders Forum in Hong Kong. The theme of this year’s forum was “Reshaping the Post-Crisis World Order,” and was meant to encourage young leaders from across the globe to share their creative ideas to address the current global financial crisis. Eva and Stephanie were 2 of 52 students around the world chosen through a select application process on the basis of a submitted abstract.
Eva regards the three days she spent at the forum as “the most intellectually stimulating experience of [her] life.” Stephanie agrees, and encourages future participants to “keep their minds open.”
The World Youth Leaders Forum was held at Shaw College at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in conjunction with the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, the National University of Malaysia. The forum was one of many events this year held to celebrate the United Nations’ International Year of Youth under the theme Dialogue and Mutual Understanding. This year’s theme aims to encourage dialogue and understanding across generations and promote the ideals of peace, respect for human rights and freedom, and solidarity.
The McCombs School of Business maintains an active student exchange partnership with the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Students interested in participating in a BBA exchange program should visit the BBA International Programs website for more information.
